The solution is material detachment but I’m not sure you want it as a capitalist. As you said, “Generally, people aren’t hungry, there is little threat of violence, and the world is more peaceful than ever.” Then why don’t they just be happy of how things are and not want anything?
Because once you attached to things, it’s either greed or hatred towards it, both create fear (fear of loss or fight/flight from the thing you hate).
