Happy Birthday America 🇺🇸
249 years ago, some folks who migrated here decided to revolt against a king. The thing that was remarkable about what they did is that instead of creating a new power structure that strictly benefitted them, they created a system to prioritize the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
It was about *individual freedoms* and the belief that everyone who lived here should have the opportunity to build a better life for themselves, and in doing so they could have the opportunity to help build a better life for everyone else too
Time and time again, the people that have chosen to live here have stood by those values. At the end of WW2, armed with the most powerful weapons humanity had ever created, we chose to rebuild the places that attacked us instead of conquer. We've fought for those freedoms time and time again for people that we hardly knew, because it was the right thing to do.
Collectively we are not without our flaws, but overwhelmingly I'm grateful to have been born here. I find it important to understand the responsibility we carry to continue to make sure the world keeps heading in the right direction - it's not a light one.
Proud to be an American today. Happy independence day 🇺🇸
