Free Startup Ideas

Writing down an interesting category list for industries that I think are interesting for startups. I’m hoping to write 1-2 angel checks by EOY and manifesting talking to companies in these categories for learning. For fun (and private) I’m also writing an anti-category list for those who want it :)

Space-Based Production and Transport

I think it’s reasonable to expect the cost to LEO to decrease by 1000-10,000x in the next 10-15 years. Energy production is so much more efficient in space and that unlocks incredible unit economics around space-based manufacturing. It’s just physics.

New Social Media

What happens when there’s a backlash against the doom loop? Do startups win or can meta pivot back to being more user-friendly and less extractive? Are there hardware layer (think OSI) hacks that we can do to curate current feeds with networking-based abstractions.

Quantum Computing

There’s a high rate of progress on quantum computers - what are the surrounding tooling / problem areas to invest in?

Native Desktop Apps

I’m very interesting in native apps built in swift (and C# I guess 🤮) that use agentic workflows on top of an entire OS vs just the browser.
